Terms of service

The service

Poofy provides free, receive-only temporary email inboxes on domains we operate. You can create an inbox without an account, receive mail at it, and reopen it later with the password we generate for you. Poofy cannot send email, and never sends mail on your behalf.

Who can use Poofy

You must be at least 16 years old and able to agree to these terms. If you use Poofy for an organization, you confirm you're allowed to accept these terms for it.

Your inboxes

• Keep your password safe. Anyone with an inbox's address and password can open it. We store only a hash of the password, so we can't recover it for you.
• Share links are public to whoever holds them. A read-only share link lets anyone with the URL read that inbox until you revoke it or it expires.
• Addresses aren't guaranteed forever. We may retire an email domain, and some websites refuse temporary email domains. Don't rely on a Poofy address for anything you can't afford to lose access to.
• Storage is limited. Inboxes have size limits and retention periods. When an inbox is full, its oldest messages may be deleted automatically. Attachments may be blocked or removed for safety.
• Don't use Poofy for critical accounts such as banking, government, health, or your primary email or password manager. Use a permanent address you control for those.

Acceptable use

You agree to follow our Acceptable use policy. In short: no illegal activity, fraud, harassment, spam, malware, or attempts to break into other people's inboxes or our systems.

Intellectual property

Poofy's name, logo, website design and software belong to Poofy. You may not copy or reuse them except as the law allows. Mail you receive belongs to its senders and recipients; we claim no ownership of it. If you believe content made available through Poofy infringes your copyright, see our DMCA & copyright policy.

Suspension and termination

We may disable an inbox, a share link or access from a network, without notice, if we reasonably believe it breaks these terms, harms others, or puts the service at risk. You can stop using Poofy at any time, delete your messages, and forget your browser session.

Changes to the service

Poofy is free and provided as it is. We may add, change or remove features, limits or email domains at any time. We'll try to give notice of significant changes on the site.

Disclaimers

Poofy is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee that mail will be delivered, delivered quickly, or kept for any particular time, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Poofy will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, accounts, access, profits or revenue, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the last 12 months (for a free service, zero) or 50 US dollars. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.

Indemnity

If you use Poofy in breach of these terms or the law and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable costs and losses arising from that claim.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws that apply where Poofy is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the consumer protection laws of your country of residence.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top of the page shows the latest version. If you keep using Poofy after a change, the new terms apply.
