Verification Code Not Arriving? Why It Happens and What to Try
Waiting for a verification email that never comes? Here are the most common reasons codes don't arrive, and how to fix each one.

You typed your email, pressed "Send code"… and nothing. Before you press the button ten more times, here's what's usually going on, and what actually helps.
1. Give it a minute (really)
Verification emails are often queued behind other mail. Most arrive within seconds, but some services take one to five minutes, especially during busy periods.
What to do: wait two minutes before requesting a new code. Requesting several codes quickly can trigger rate limits, and then none of them arrive. In Poofy, new mail shows up on its own, and you can press the refresh button to check right away.
2. Check the address for typos
A single wrong letter sends your code somewhere else.
What to do: copy and paste the address instead of typing it. Poofy copies a new inbox address to your clipboard automatically for exactly this reason.
3. Only the newest code works
Most services invalidate old codes when you request a new one.
What to do: always use the most recent code. In Poofy's Codes view, the newest code is at the top.
4. The site blocks temporary email
Some websites refuse temporary or disposable email addresses. They may reject the address outright, or accept it and quietly never send the email.
What to do: if a site doesn't send to a temporary address, respect that and use a permanent email address for that site. It usually means the site wants a long-term way to reach you, which is also a sign the account may matter more than you think.
5. The email went somewhere unexpected
On a regular email account, verification mail sometimes lands in spam, promotions or "other" folders.
What to do: search your whole mailbox for the company name. Temporary inboxes like Poofy don't have spam folders, so everything lands in the one inbox.
6. The service is having problems
Occasionally the sending service itself is down.
What to do: check the company's status page or social accounts, and try again later.
7. You're signing up too fast, or from a flagged network
Anti-fraud systems sometimes delay or block codes for sign-ups that look automated, for example from shared networks or VPNs.
What to do: slow down, try again later, or switch to your normal connection.
Quick checklist
- Wait two minutes before asking for a new code.
- Paste the address; don't type it.
- Use only the newest code.
- If the site won't send to a temporary address, use a permanent one.
- Check the sender's status page.
